Microsoft Internet Explorer

To turn on JavaScript in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Security tab.
  2. Click the Web content zone that you are using (for example, click Local Intranet),
    and then click Custom Level button.
  3. Locate Active scripting under Scripting settings. Click to select the Enable radio button.
  4. Click OK button on Security Settings and Internet Options windows to save your changes.

To turn on JavaScript in Firefox, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.., and then click the Content tab.
  2. Click to select the Enable JavaScript check box.
  3. Click OK button to save the setting.

To turn on JavaScript in Safari, follow these steps:

  1. Open Safari
  2. On the Safari menu, click on Preferences.
  3. Click the Security icon.
  4. Click on Enable JavaScript next to the Web Content section if it is not checked
  5. Close the Preferences window
  6. Close and restart Safari.

Opera 9.xx series

To turn on JavaScript in Opera 9.xx series, follow these steps:

  1. Open Opera.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Preferences.
  3. Click Content in the Preferences list.
  4. Check the box next to Enable JavaScript.
  5. Click the JavaScript Options button to open the JavaScript Options box.
  6. Check the boxes that you want to allow.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK.

Google Chrome(v0.4.154.23)

To turn on JavaScript in Google Chrome(v0.4.154.23), follow these steps:

  1. First close any open Chrome windows.
  2. Right click on a blank area of your Desktop.
  3. Select New.
  4. Create a new Shortcut with the following in the "Type the location of the item:" text box:
    • For Windows Vista:
      %userprofile%\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe -enable-javascript
    • For Windows XP:
      "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\chrome.exe" -enable-javascript
      Note: You'll have to enclose the file path for Windows XP in quotes due to there being spaces in it.

  • ​​With your M&T Debit Card​​ you can make purchases big or small anywhere Visa® is accepted. When you make a purchase from a store or online retailer, the money is withdrawn from your linked checking account. The M&T Debit Card also serves as your ATM card for withdrawing cash from any linked deposit account, and it can be used to get cash back from retailers when you make purchases using your personal identification number (PIN). Additionally, you can use the card to transfer funds between linked accounts.

  • ​​​When you make a purchase with an M&T Debit Card, the cashier or the card reader will ask whether you want to use your card as "debit" or "credit." Both options will work.​

    ​​There are two ways to process your transaction – either way, the money will come from your M&T checking account.DIS-307-DIS 

    • If you select DEBIT, enter your personal identification number (PIN) to authorize the transaction. Some participating merchants may also give you the option to receive cash back when you make a debit purchase, similar to accessing an ATM.
    • If you select CREDIT, simply sign for your purchase (like a credit card) instead of entering your PIN. Even when you select CREDIT, the money will still come from your M&T checking account.DIS-307-DIS
  • ​​You can access your detailed transaction information online through M&T Online and Mobile Ba​nkingDIS-204-DIS by calling the M&T Telephone Banking Center at 1-800-724-2440 or by reviewing your account statements. Each purchase is detailed on your monthly checking account statement with the transaction date, amount, merchant name and location.​

  • ​​For your personal security, your M&T Debit Card does have limits. While these limits should not affect your average use of the card, there are cash withdrawal and purchase limits in place to prevent excessive usage if an unauthorized individual were to use your card. Please refer to the Electronic Banking Card and Telephone Transaction Disclosure and Agreement you received with your card for more information regarding these limits.​

    Added benefit: if we notice that your card is being used more frequently than normal, we may request to speak to you at the time you are making a purchase, or we may call you to ensure that your card is not being used fraudulently.​

  • ​​You could have a different M&T Debit Card​ or ATM card for each checking or savings account. But, if you link your accounts to one card instead, there's only one unique PIN for ONE card that you need to remember – now that's convenient!  Purchases will be authorized and paid from the primary checking account linked to the card.

  • ​​When you receive your card in the mail, simply call the number shown on the sticker on the front of your card or activate it at an ATM. Once the card is activated, remove the sticker and sign the signature panel on the back of the card. 

  • ​With your M&T Debit Card you can visit an M&T Bank ATM to access multiple accounts. Check balances, transfers funds, make deposits or withdrawals and even make payments to line of credit accounts – although not all ATMs offer all transaction types. Up to 10 accounts may be linked:

    • 4 Checking Accounts 
    • 4 Statement Savings Accounts 
    • 2 Line of Credit Accounts

    Each account has a unique identifier – "account nickname" (i.e., House Acct 1234, Vacation Acct 2222, Tommy's Acct 4546). M&T Bank ATM​ screens will display the accounts associated with your card. Select the account for which you would like to perform a transaction. All accounts will also be accessible via the M&T Telephone Banking Center at 1-800-724-2440.

  • ​There is NO ANNUAL OR MONTHLY FEE. Transaction fees may apply. See your Electronic Banking Card and Telephone Transaction Disclosure and Agreement for details.​
  • ​There are several reasons the M&T Debit Card offers even more flexibility than a check:

    • Checks often have limited acceptance, especially out of town – the debit card is accepted at millions of locations worldwide
    • A debit card purchase is faster than paying by check – there's no waiting for time-consuming check authorization
    • Checkbooks can be cumbersome to carry around – the card fits into your wallet, so it's always with you
    • You can use your card to pay for online or phone purchases
    • Because of chip technology, your purchases are better protected from fraud and counterfeit transactions when used at a chip-enabled terminal
  • ​​​To minimize the amount of any loss you may be responsible for, notify us immediately if your card gets lost or stolen. The Visa® Zero Liability PolicyDIS-195-DIS provides additional protection for unauthorized transactions made through the Visa​ network.

  • ​​M&T Alerts are available for M&T Online and Mobile Banking users at no charge.DIS-9-DIS|DIS-204-DIS You can opt to receive notifications to your email or mobile device with details about certain types of account activity - including security alertsDIS-9-DIS, debit card purchases that were made by web/phone and large withdrawals. M&T Alerts also allows you to track balances and transactions.

  • ​​​​​Use your M&T Debit Card​​ instead of cash or checks at millions of locations worldwide anywhere Visa® is accepted, including supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants and many more. Your debit card also serves as your ATM card. ​

  • You can quickly and easily request a replacement card online​. Please do not request a replacement card if your card is lost or stolen. See the answer to the "What should I do if I lose my card or it is stolen?" question to learn what to do.

  • ​​If your card is lost or stolen, you should immediately call the M&T Telephone Banking Center at 1-800-724-1552 or stop into a branch​ to report the incident.

  • ​​​A debit card is not a credit card even though it has the Visa® logo on it. The Visa logo expands your purchasing power, allowing you to make purchases at millions of locations worldwide. With a debit card, the purchase amount comes directly out of your checking account. ​

  • ​​Depending on the merchant's restrictions, funds will be credited back to your checking account within a few days.

  • ​​​If you think there is an error involving a transaction, such as a purchase you didn't make or an incorrect amount charged to your card, notify us immediately.
