Microsoft Internet Explorer

To turn on JavaScript in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Security tab.
  2. Click the Web content zone that you are using (for example, click Local Intranet),
    and then click Custom Level button.
  3. Locate Active scripting under Scripting settings. Click to select the Enable radio button.
  4. Click OK button on Security Settings and Internet Options windows to save your changes.

Firefox

To turn on JavaScript in Firefox, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.., and then click the Content tab.
  2. Click to select the Enable JavaScript check box.
  3. Click OK button to save the setting.

Safari

To turn on JavaScript in Safari, follow these steps:

  1. Open Safari
  2. On the Safari menu, click on Preferences.
  3. Click the Security icon.
  4. Click on Enable JavaScript next to the Web Content section if it is not checked
  5. Close the Preferences window
  6. Close and restart Safari.

Opera 9.xx series

To turn on JavaScript in Opera 9.xx series, follow these steps:

  1. Open Opera.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Preferences.
  3. Click Content in the Preferences list.
  4. Check the box next to Enable JavaScript.
  5. Click the JavaScript Options button to open the JavaScript Options box.
  6. Check the boxes that you want to allow.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK.

Google Chrome(v0.4.154.23)

To turn on JavaScript in Google Chrome(v0.4.154.23), follow these steps:

  1. First close any open Chrome windows.
  2. Right click on a blank area of your Desktop.
  3. Select New.
  4. Create a new Shortcut with the following in the "Type the location of the item:" text box:
    • For Windows Vista:
      %userprofile%\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe -enable-javascript
    • For Windows XP:
      "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\chrome.exe" -enable-javascript
      Note: You'll have to enclose the file path for Windows XP in quotes due to there being spaces in it.

HARP Eligibility Guidelines

​Learn about the HARP mortgage program eligibility to see if you can refinance to a lower rate or payment.

​​​​​​If you meet these requirements, you may be eligible.

You may now be eligible to refinance your mortgage under HARP, even if you owe more than your home is worth. Take a look at these general HARP eligibility guidelines below to find out if you qualify:

  • Your current mortgage must be owned by Freddie Mac (FHLMC) or Fannie Mae (FNMA)
  • Your mortgage was sold to Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae on or before May 31, 2009
  • Refinancing your loan under HARP improves either the long-term affordability or stability of your loan (refinancing from an interest-only/adjustable rate loan to a fixed-rate loan or reduced principal/interest payment or term and reduced interest rate) 
  • Your loan payments must have been current in the last 6 months, and there must have been no more than one late payment during the past 12 months
  • At lease one borrower from the original loan must be named on the new loan

  • How do I make a claim for a refund?
  • ​​​​​If you believe that you have suffered a loss related to a substitute check that you received and that was posted to your account, please contact us by:​

    • Calling 1-800-724-2440 or  
    • Writing to us at M&T Bank, P.O. Box 767, Buffalo, NY 14240-9975

    If a customer speaks to us about a claim, we may require that the claim be submitted in writing. If you are an M&T Online Banking customer, you may email us securely at https://onlinebanking.mtb.com.   

    You must contact us within 40 calendar days of the date that we mailed (or delivered by a means to which the consumer agreed) the substitute check in question or the account statement showing that the substitute check was posted to the account – whichever is later. We will extend this timeframe if the consumer was not able to make a claim within the 40 days because of extraordinary circumstances.

    A consumer's refund claim must include:

    • A description of why you have suffered a loss. For example, you think the amount withdrawn was incorrect;
    • An estimate of the amount of your loss;
    • An explanation of why the substitute check you received is not sufficient to confirm that you suffered a loss; and
    • A copy of the substitute check and/or the following information to help us identify the substitute check:
      • ​​The check number
      • The name of the person to whom the check was written
      • The amount of the check
